What is NEAR (NEAR)?
NEAR (NEAR Protocol) is a decentralized layer-1 blockchain whose mainnet launched in April 2020. It was founded in 2018 by Illia Polosukhin and Alex Skidanov; the team began with a research project on AI program synthesis before pivoting to building an open, high-performance blockchain platform.
