Frequently asked questions: swapping to NEAR (NEAR)
The 5 most common questions, answered.
01How long does it take to swap to NEAR?
Typically 1–3 minutes. AllSwap's matching is instant; the main wait is your origin-chain confirmation (USDT-TRC ~10 s, ETH ~30 s, SOL ~5 s). On the destination side, NEAR mainnet produces blocks roughly every 1 second with ~2-second finality, so it adds almost no delay. See the table above for origin-chain speeds.
02Which cryptocurrencies can I swap to NEAR on AllSwap?
120+ crypto assets across 33 chains — including USDT (TRC20 / ERC20 / BEP20 / Solana), USDC (ERC20 / Base / Solana / Arbitrum), ETH, BTC, SOL, BNB, XRP, TON, DOGE, TRX, LTC, ADA, SUI and more. See the routes table above for the full list.
03What's the minimum and maximum I can swap to NEAR?
There is no hard minimum; the effective floor is set by NEAR settlement cost, around 2 USDT equivalent. The per-swap ceiling depends on live market-maker liquidity — for very large orders, splitting into multiple swaps usually gets you a better rate and lower slippage.
04Do I need KYC or to connect a wallet to swap to NEAR?
No. AllSwap is fully non-custodial: no account, no KYC, no wallet connection. Just provide your NEAR receiving address — either a named account like alice.near or a 64-character hex implicit account works — and the protocol handles the rest. Funds never touch a centralized intermediary.
05Could my swap to NEAR be frozen or require identity verification?
No. AllSwap is a decentralized matching protocol — it doesn't screen transactions, custody funds or collect identity data. The full flow is on-chain verifiable, and any failed swap is auto-refunded to your sending address.
What is NEAR (NEAR)?
NEAR (NEAR Protocol) is a decentralized layer-1 blockchain whose mainnet launched in April 2020. It was founded in 2018 by Illia Polosukhin and Alex Skidanov; the team began with a research project on AI program synthesis before pivoting to building an open, high-performance blockchain platform. The NEAR Foundation stewards protocol governance and ecosystem growth, with the whitepaper and codebase kept open-source.
NEAR runs on a sharded architecture called Nightshade and a Proof-of-Stake consensus, with roughly 1-second blocks and ~2-second finality, scaling horizontally as demand grows. The native NEAR token has an annual issuance of about 5% — 90% paid to validators and 10% routed to the protocol treasury — and every transaction is publicly verifiable on-chain. Validators secure the network by staking NEAR, and ordinary holders can delegate stake to participate in consensus.
NEAR's signature feature is human-readable account names (e.g. alice.near) that replace opaque hex addresses, paired with the Chain Abstraction vision formally articulated in 2024 to lower the friction of moving between chains. NEAR is widely used for dApps, AI agents and on-chain games, ranks among the larger-cap layer-1 ecosystems, and sustains an active community of developers and users.
