A market price and a swap quote answer different questions
A market price helps you value an asset. A swap quote estimates the output for a particular input amount, asset version, source network, receiving network and available route. Those are different questions, so different numbers are not, by themselves, evidence of an extra charge.
CoinGecko, for example, describes how it combines exchange ticker data to calculate an aggregated market price. That is not an offer to execute your specific swap. Its price methodology and price API documentation also explain why the source and update time matter.
Suppose a price tracker values both assets at one dollar. Multiplying your input by their price ratio gives a reference conversion, not a promise that the same quantity will arrive on another network. Liquidity, route pricing and the cost of moving and delivering the assets can make the available output different. Stablecoin tickers do not guarantee a permanent one-to-one exchange rate.
Match the conditions before comparing two numbers
Before deciding one quote is better, check all of these:
Source asset and network. USDT on Ethereum is not the same payment instruction as USDT on Tron.
Receiving asset and network. The recipient must accept that version of the asset. A larger output on an unusable network is not a better outcome.
Input amount. A rate quoted for a small amount may not apply to a larger request.
Quote time and validity. A cached page example, an earlier preview and a new order are not simultaneous offers.
What is included. Separate costs reflected in the output from costs charged by the wallet or exchange sending the payment.
On AllSwap, the pair tables contain indicative examples. In the form, check that your assets and amount have produced a current received-amount preview; a market reference shown while no usable quote is available is not a reason to send funds.
Keep the preview, order and actual receipt separate
The preview helps you decide whether to continue. Entering a compatible receiving address and requesting an order produces the deposit instructions. That order's payment address, network, exact source amount and any required deposit Memo are what you must check before sending.
The current AllSwap interface shows an estimated received amount. Do not reinterpret an estimate as an unconditional final amount, a separate guaranteed minimum or permission to omit a required field. Some swap products display distinct expected and minimum amounts; do not assume another product's labels or guarantees apply here.
The order may provide a payment deadline. That deadline is different from the preview's validity and from an estimated completion time. There is no universal 30-minute lock for every request. If a deadline is not displayed, clarify the instructions before paying rather than assuming the order remains payable indefinitely.
Actual receipt is a later event. A source payment marked successful does not, by itself, prove that the order recognized it or that the recipient has been credited. Keep the original order tab and distinguish source payment, route processing, destination transfer and the receiving platform's crediting step.
Compare output without counting the same fee twice
AllSwap's fee explanation states its service fee. Route pricing already reflects that service fee; the received-amount figure is not a market conversion from which you should automatically subtract it again. Do not assume every component of a route can be independently itemized from one total.
Sending the payment can create a separate cost. A wallet may charge a source-network transaction fee. An exchange may charge for a withdrawal and handle the deduction differently from a wallet. For example, OKX's regional withdrawal guide distinguishes deduction behavior by app version and balance conditions. Check your own confirmation screen rather than copying another user's calculation.
Two checks serve different purposes: compare the estimated output to choose between equivalent offers, and check the amount that will actually reach the deposit address to pay an order correctly. If the sending service deducts a fee from the transfer, the number you type may not be the amount the order receives. Do not underpay, top up or split an existing order on the assumption it will reconcile automatically.
An illustrative comparison
The following numbers are deliberately invented to show the method. They are not live AllSwap quotes, actual trades, advertised fees or a statement that this route is currently available. Both examples assume the same time, the same external payment cost and a recipient that accepts the specified asset and network.
| Check | Example A | Example B |
|---|---|---|
| Order input | 1,000 USDC on Ethereum | 1,000 USDC on Ethereum |
| Receiving asset | USDT on Tron | USDT on Tron |
| Estimated received amount | 997 USDT | 995 USDT |
| Route costs | Already reflected in output | Already reflected in output |
| Source payment cost | Separate; assumed equal | Separate; assumed equal |
| Timing and recipient conditions | Assumed equal | Assumed equal |
Under those assumptions, A estimates 2 USDT more output. Its illustrative output ratio is 997 divided by 1,000, or 0.997 USDT per USDC. That is a quote ratio, not either asset's dollar price and not the platform's service-fee rate. Do not deduct an already included route cost from 997 a second time.
If the source payment cost, receiving network, required amount or validity differs, this simple comparison no longer answers the question. Rebuild the comparison using matching conditions; if a material cost is unknown, do not label the result cheapest.
What to do when the numbers change
Before payment: check the selected networks, amount and current order again. If the terms no longer suit you, do not send. If no usable quote is available, stop instead of transferring to instructions from another order.
If a deadline has passed: first distinguish an unpaid order from a payment already sent. Follow quote-expired guidance; requesting a new quote does not move a payment from an old order to a new one.
After payment: return to the original order and verify the source transaction and destination receipt. Do not respond to a changed screen by paying again. Use transaction-not-received checks or official support when the evidence is unclear.
Using this comparison on AllSwap
The current AllSwap flow lets you check supported assets and networks and review a quote without connecting a browser wallet. If you continue, it presents deposit instructions for the order. This reduces the need to work through separate manual steps, but it does not establish that every route is available or that AllSwap always has the lowest total cost.
Ready to compare? Open the exchange form, enter your actual amount and confirm the receiving network. Use the step-by-step guide before paying. Compare the terms first; payment should follow the current order, not a market-price calculation or this example.
FAQ
Does a different quote mean an extra fee was added?
Not necessarily. The reference price, requested amount, networks, available liquidity and quote time may differ. Compare the same conditions and distinguish costs already reflected in the output from separate source payment costs.
Should I subtract AllSwap's service fee again from the received amount?
No. The quoted output reflects the service fee described on the fees page. Do not subtract it a second time. Check separately what your sending wallet or exchange will charge and what amount will reach the order's deposit address.
Does a preview guarantee the amount I will receive?
The current interface presents an estimated received amount. A preview is not an unconditional final-receipt guarantee. Before paying, review the current order, its required amount, network, address and any supplied payment deadline.
What if I already paid and then see a different quote?
Check the original order and payment transaction. Do not pay again merely because another preview has changed. A new quote does not transfer an old payment to a new order; use the transaction-not-received guidance or official support if needed.
